National Tourism Day and Association Inauguration

The Department of Travel and Tourism Management, in collaboration with the Tourism Club, organized a successful National Tourism Day program on January 29, 2025, at the rooftop auditorium of Gems Arts and Science College, Ramapuram. The event was doubly significant as it also marked the inauguration of the college's Tourism Association. The program featured a diverse range of activities, including informative sessions, interactive competitions, cultural performances, and engaging entertainment, attracting a wide audience of students and faculty.
The day commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Latheef Aslam, Assistant Professor in the Department, setting the stage for the day's events. Following this, Ms. Arathy P Rajan, HOD of the Department, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the importance of tourism and the role of the newly formed association. Mr. Sony C P, also an Assistant Professor in the Department, then felicitated the attendees. The highlight of the morning session was the official inauguration of the Tourism Association by Mr. Hamidali Vaxhakkad, a distinguished writer, traveler, and environmentalist. Mr. Vaxhakkad also delivered an inspiring inaugural address, emphasizing the connection between travel, culture, and environmental consciousness. The morning session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Abdrahiman Jasir.
Adding an element of friendly competition, "Udanpanam," a quiz program, was conducted for students from various departments. This interactive session tested their knowledge of tourism and related subjects, fostering a spirit of learning and engagement.
The afternoon session shifted its focus to the future of tourism with a presentation by Dr. Shahid Cholayil, Chairman of Mission 3G. Dr. Cholayil’s insightful talk on the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) provided a glimpse into the potential impact of technology on the tourism sector.
The program then showcased the artistic talents of the students with a vibrant dance performance, adding a cultural dimension to the celebration. The day culminated in an entertaining musical program featuring performances by Irshad Mudikkode, Haseeb NBR, and Abhi Violin, providing a perfect blend of melody and rhythm to conclude the day's festivities.
The combined celebration of Tourism Day and the Tourism Association inauguration proved to be a resounding success. The event effectively combined informative sessions with engaging entertainment, catering to a diverse audience. It provided a valuable platform for students to learn, interact, and celebrate the spirit of travel and exploration, while also marking the beginning of the Tourism Association's activities within the college. The program successfully highlighted the importance of tourism in the modern world and the potential of the newly formed association to contribute to its growth and development.
