As part of the Environment Day celebrations, The Department of Travel and Tourism Management in collaboration with Tourism Club organized a quiz competition on June 10, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Room number 409. The event aimed to raise awareness and promote understanding of Responsible and Sustainable Tourism, aligning with the global environmental goals and the theme of World Environment Day.
Objectives:
To educate participants about sustainable travel practices.
To encourage awareness of the environmental impact of tourism.
To highlight the role of individuals in promoting eco-friendly tourism.
Participants:
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 31 students. Participants were grouped into teams of seven, and the event attracted a diverse and engaged audience.
Format:
The quiz comprised of Written test.
Informative questions covered topics such as eco-certifications, community-based tourism, carbon footprints, and UNESCO heritage sites.
The quiz fostered healthy competition and team spirit.
The audience also actively participated in bonus questions and discussions.
Prizes and certificates were awarded to the top three teams and all participants received certificates of appreciation.
Outcome:
The event was successful in sparking curiosity and discussion about responsible tourism practices. It helped instill a sense of responsibility among students to travel sustainably and to be more conscious of environmental impacts while exploring new places.
