The UBA Cell in association with IQAC organized an Orientation Program on Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) on 4 December 2025 at M.P. Narayana Menon Hall, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Malappuram. The session was attended by 47 students from the MSW and Sociology departments. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Naveen Mohan, Principal, followed by remarks from Dr. Abdul Samad, Vice Principal, and Dr. Finose A, IQAC Director. The welcome address and coordination were handled by Anas Tharakan, UBA Coordinator. The resource person, Shri. Akhil GS, Project Coordinator (RCI), Kerala Agricultural University joined to the program online and delivered an insightful orientation on the objectives, components, and implementation strategies of UBA, focusing on village adoption, community engagement, and student participation in rural development initiatives.
The session also included an interactive discussion where students clarified their doubts regarding field-level activities, survey methods, and project opportunities under UBA. The program effectively enhanced the students’ understanding of UBA’s role in strengthening the link between higher education institutions and rural communities. It encouraged them to become active participants in community-centered development processes. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the session as informative, engaging, and beneficial for students preparing for field-based academic and developmental work.
