The PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized Alumni Lecture Series 15 titled “From Campus to Career”, a workshop on CV, Resume, LinkedIn & Interview Readiness for Social Work Students, on 2 June 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Room No. 903, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Block.
The programme was facilitated by Mr. Muhammed Murshid AP, a distinguished alumnus of the department, Soft & Life Skills Trainer, Educator, and Social Work Professional. The session was designed to prepare students for their transition from academic life to professional careers by equipping them with essential employability skills. During the workshop, the resource person provided practical guidance on developing professional CVs and resumes that effectively highlight academic achievements, fieldwork experiences, internships, and skills relevant to the social work profession. The participants were introduced to the importance of personal branding and maintaining a strong professional presence through LinkedIn. Strategies for creating impactful LinkedIn profiles, networking with professionals, and exploring career opportunities through digital platforms were discussed in detail.
The session also focused on interview readiness, covering topics such as communication skills, confidence building, professional etiquette, commonly asked interview questions, and techniques for presenting oneself effectively during recruitment processes. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students gained valuable insights into employer expectations and workplace professionalism.A total of 18 second-year MSW students participated in the programme and actively engaged in the discussions. The workshop provided them with practical tools and knowledge to enhance their career preparedness and employability.
The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants, who found the session informative, engaging, and highly relevant to their future career aspirations. The department expressed its gratitude to the resource person for sharing his expertise and valuable experiences with the students.
