Four-day Student Induction Program (SIP) 2025

The PG Department of Social Work organized a four-day Student Induction Program (SIP) 2025 for the first-year MSW students of the academic year 2025–2027. The program aimed to familiarize students with the field of social work, build rapport among peers and faculty, orient parents, and equip students with essential skills for academic and professional growth. On Day 1 (17 July 2025), Ms. Anitha Parveen J, Head of the PG Department of Social Work, led a session titled “The First Step: Understanding the Social Work Road Map”, introducing students to the values, principles, and scope of the profession while outlining the academic expectations. Day 2 (18 July 2025) featured an ice- breaking session titled “Mix & Mingle: The Social Work Edition”, facilitated by Mr. Sarath K and Mr. Anas Tharakan, Assistant Professors, which helped students and faculty engage and build a sense of belonging. On Day 3 (21 July 2025), the program included two sessions: the first, “Home and Field: Parents&; Role in Social Work Learning”, was an orientation for parents emphasizing their supportive role in the student’s learning journey; the second, “Beyond the Classroom: Introduction to Field Work”, was handled by Ms. Gopika M, Assistant Professor, highlighting the significance, components, and learning outcomes of fieldwork. The final session on Day 4 (31 July 2025), titled “Voice and Vision: The Art of Effective Speech”, was conducted by Mr. Rihas K.T., International Public Speaking Trainer and Assistant Professor, PG Department of English, focusing on developing students&; communication and public speaking skills, thereby concluding the induction program on a confident and empowering note.
