PG Department of Commerce, Gems Arts and Science College as a part of Student Exchange Programme-an Extension activity in association with SAFA College of Arts and Science organized a seminar on "Intellectual Property Rights and Consumer Protection Act" on 27/03/2025 Thursday at10 am on MP Narayana Menon Hall. The event aimed to create awareness among PG and UG students and faculty members about the importance of intellectual property rights and consumer rights.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Thanseela K, 2nd semester M.Com student who welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. The Presidential Address was given by Mr.Sivakumar K,HOD PG Department of Commerce. In his presidential address, emphasized the significance of intellectual property rights and consumer rights in today's world. He highlighted the need for awareness and education on these rights. The felicitation was done by Mr.Mohamed Navas K -Vice Principal, Mr.Mohammed Ashraf M-Associate Professor and Ms.Saritha A- Assistant Professor PG Department of Commerce, sharing their insights and experiences on intellectual property rights and consumer rights.
The seminar was presented by Mr.Afthab Hadi Elachola and Mr.Muhammed Haneen B.Com students of Safa College of Arts and Science. They presented a comprehensive seminar on Intellectual Property Rights and Consumer Protection Act. They covered topics such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, consumer safety and consumer protection laws. Total number of participants was 33.
At last of this occasion Faheem K- 4th semester M.Com student proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, dignitaries, and participants for making the seminar a success.
The seminar was a huge success, with participants gaining valuable insights into intellectual property rights and consumer rights. The institution plans to organize more such events to create awareness and promote education on these important topics. Fathima Ahammedkutty efficiently anchored the seminar, ensuring a smooth flow of events throughout the day.
