As part of their commitment to social responsibility and community service, 12 students from GEMS Arts and Science College actively participated in the volunteership for the Kalolstavam event organized by BUDS School at Tirur Town Hall. The event took place over three days: 3rd December 2024, 4th December 2024, and 5th December 2024. This initiative allowed the students to contribute positively to the community while also fostering values of empathy, cooperation, and social awareness.
The Kalolstavam event, hosted by BUDS School, aimed to provide a platform for individuals with special needs to showcase their talents, engage in creative activities, and participate in a variety of social, cultural, and educational programs. It was a significant event for the local community, bringing together students, parents, educators, and volunteers in a collaborative environment focused on inclusion and empowerment. The GEMS Arts and Science College students provided essential support throughout the event, contributing in the following areas: Students helped guide the participants of the Kalolstavam event, offering assistance to those who needed support during activities, ensuring that they felt comfortable and engaged, they were involved in organizing various event sessions, ensuring the smooth flow of activities, coordinating between different groups, and providing logistical support to the event organizers, the volunteers participated in organizing recreational and creative workshops, including art activities and music sessions, ensuring that all participants were included and supported, ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants, especially those with special needs, was a top priority. The students were responsible for helping maintain a safe environment for everyone, they helped with general event setup, decoration, and cleanup, ensuring the venue was ready for each day’s activities.
The volunteership provided by the students of GEMS Arts and Science College for the Kalolstavam at Tirur Town Hall was an outstanding example of community service, offering students valuable opportunities to engage with the local community while promoting inclusivity and social responsibility.
