INAUGURATION OF SPECIAL ACADEMIC ACTION PLAN 2021
The Inauguration of Special Academic Action Plan 2021(SAAP) was held at GEMS Arts and Science college, on 17th August 2021 at 4.00 pm online via the google meet platform. The programme started with a welcoming note by Dr Naveen Mohan, Principal, GEMS college. All the dignitaries and Chief guests were welcomed along with the whole faculties of the college along with a brief video presentation about the college. The presidential address was done by Mr Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA and Chairman of GEMS arts and Science college. He discussed the purpose of the establishment and Infrastructure of the college. He also explained the importance of the SAAP and the new education policy of the government. A brief description of the SAAP was given by Dr Mirshad Rahman, AAC Convenor, GEMS Arts and Science college. He discussed Major action plans and various committees related to the SAAP and the three levels of academic action plan and their benefits for the students and college. The programme was inaugurated by Dr M.K Jayaraj, Honorable Vice-chancellor, University of Calicut. He started his speech with the statement “Higher education should be knowledge-centric” and discussed various aspects like the need for Research-oriented learning, a blended model of teaching and learning and the importance of entrepreneurship development programmes in the Institutions and the current position of our nation in research and development. The Director’s address was given by Dr BG Unni, Director of Academic and Research. GEMS College. He discussed various achievements of the college like 2(f) UGC registration, Darpan(NITI-Aaayog) registration, National Digital Library memberships etc. He also discussed about establishment of the academic research review committee, its committee member details, Research and academic Collaborations of the college and multi-institutional projects which has been submitted to external funding agencies for funding approval. He also detailed about SIRO recognition status and finally the importance of newly formed committees of the college in the vision of accreditation and quality enhancement of the college. Dr Finose A, IQAC Co-ordinator, took the privilege of winding up the session by proposing the Vote of Thanks.
