Gems college Library and Research centre has conducted a two day webinar on the topic “INNOVATIONS THROUGH LIBRARY AND RESEARCH CENTRE”, which emphasised on the importance and need of digital library in this modern world. Academic and Research Director Dr. B.G. Unni inaugurated the event. Principal Dr. Naveen Mohan gave the welcome speech. Vice Chairman Mr. Vasudevan gave the presidential address. Chief Librarian Mrs. Smitha Pramod introduced the Resource persons. Director Board member Mr. Hamsa felicitated the program. First day of the program began at 6.30pm. Dr. Banamber Sahoo PhD, Library and Information officer, ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre Bhubaneswar, was the Resource person, His topic was “INNOVATIVE LIBRARY SERVICES IN ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH LIBRARY”. He mainly emphasised on the fact that “Library is very important fact of an institution; so the updation of the library services also most important”. He detailed about more important research area services through libraries. The second day, topic of the Seminar was “LIBRARY BEYOND FOUR WALLS PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES”. The resource person was Dr.Tamal Kumar Guha PhD, Librarian and Head of the section IIT Guwahathi Assam. His talk provided an insight to librarians and all the reader community. He touched all the areas of the past, present, and future libraries services and requirements. He added that updation of a library really is helpful to keep the readers updated about the technical advancements in the area. The two days program was conducted for all the teachers in Gems college and all the librarians. After the two sessions the participants had the opportunity to interact with the Resource persons. Their world wide experience really helped the audience with a good updation to this changing modern world. Vice-principal Navas K gave vote of thanks for the inaugural ceremony, and Dr.Finose A ,IQAC Co-ordinator gave the vote of thanks after the two sessions. About 60 above audience (Teachers and Librarians) attended the program, and this two day webinar was really influential and informative. The librarians of various areas of our country gave more valuable comments for our webinar.
