CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF CERTIFICATE COURSE IN COUNSELLING
The Sociology and Social Work department had been conducted convocation ceremony of the Certificate course in counseling .The certificate course in Counseling both as an approach and as service ,can only followed and practiced by adequate training .This course offers training to students ,teachers and educators in the theory and in the application in educational institutions and related fields .This is a six month certificate course offered by PG department of Social Work and Sociology GEMS ASC in collaboration with Indian Counselor’s Association(ICA). Presidential address has done by Mr.Mohammed Navas, Vice Principal of GEMS ASC, Dr.B.G Unni, Academic Director of GEMS ASC has delivered keynote address, Mr.Arun.K Head of the PG Department of Social Work and Sociology and Mrs.Smitha Pramod chief librarian and General Secretary of Indian counselors association (ICA) had gathered felicitation for the convocation ceremony.

Department of Sociology and Social Work GEMS Arts and Science College drew a new portrait in the field of social work activities by inaugurating human rights and anti-human trafficking club. The club was inaugurated by Mrs. Geethanjali.(District Child Protection Officer) Malappuram on 03/11/2021. DCPO effectively and reasonably profounded the importance of such clubs and offered all the cooperation in future endeavours, respected Principal of the college Dr. Naveen Mohan delivered the presidential address and emphasized the importance and relevance of such initiatives. Above all the organizers were fortunate enough to get the presence of Dr.MP NAIR IPS (former DGP, NDRF, Government of India) who is known as father of Indian Anti Human Trafficking and his keynote address he shared his long experience in the field of anti-human trafficking and elaborated about the modus operandi of the club. The program was organized and ended well by the efforts taken by the faculties and students of the Department, the purview of the club is not confined in to the parent department but it is also meant to whole college to raise the voice against human rights violations and human trafficking activities. The department hopes to do more initiatives under the banner of this club. The vista of actions are abundance.
