Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the IPR Cell – GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) titled “IPR 360 Degree Awareness Program” on 22nd December 2025 at M. P. Narayana Menon Hall,  for creating awareness among students and faculties about the fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights and their importance in academic, research, and creative fields.

The session was led by Dr. Deepthi V C, Assistant Professor, PG Department of General Biotechnology & Coordinator – IPR Cell, GEMS, who served as the resource person. The session covered various aspects of IPR, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and geographical indications. Special emphasis was given to copyright protection in creative works such as multimedia content, graphic designs, films, and digital media.

The seminar was interactive, with 70 students from the three batches and faculties from the dept. of Multimedia actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarifications regarding intellectual property protection, ownership, plagiarism, and ethical practices in creative and academic work. The session helped students understand the legal framework governing creative outputs and the need to safeguard original ideas.
