The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Film Club and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized an Alumni Lecture Series titled "Alumni Connect" on 3rd July 2026 as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27. The session on "Introduction to VFX – What VFX is and Where It's Used" was delivered by Mr. Al Shab Kottarath, Multimedia Alumnus (2023–26 Batch).
The session introduced first-year students to the fundamentals of Visual Effects (VFX) and its growing significance in the media and entertainment industry. The speaker explained the basic concepts of VFX, its applications in films, television, advertisements, gaming, and digital content creation, while providing examples from contemporary productions. He also shared his academic journey, industry exposure, and learning experiences, offering students valuable insights into the skills and opportunities available in the VFX domain.
The interactive session encouraged students to engage in discussions and clarify their queries regarding software, career pathways, and industry expectations. The alumnus emphasized the importance of creativity, continuous learning, and technical proficiency in building a successful career in visual effects.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 39 newly admitted Multimedia students and served as an inspiring platform for interaction between alumni and juniors. Overall, "Alumni Connect" provided students with a meaningful introduction to the field of VFX while motivating them to explore emerging technologies and career opportunities in the multimedia industry.
