Workshop: Excel Skills for Workplace Efficiency

The Computer Science Department of GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), in association with Sunstone School of Technology and Sunstone School of Management, organized a Workshop on “Excel Skills for Workplace Efficiency” on 29 January 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Computer Science Lab. The program aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its applications in professional and organizational environments. The workshop was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace requirements by focusing on essential data-handling and productivity tools.
The session was led by Dr. V. Prabakaran, Campus Head, Sunstone Education Technology Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, who served as the guest speaker. During the workshop, Dr. Prabakaran provided an insightful overview of Excel functionalities used in real-time workplace scenarios, including data organization, analysis, and efficiency improvement techniques. His interactive approach and practical demonstrations enabled students to understand how Excel skills contribute significantly to decision-making, reporting, and operational efficiency in various industries.
The workshop witnessed active participation from students of the Computer Science Department, who engaged enthusiastically throughout the session. The program successfully improved students’ technical competence and confidence in using Excel for professional tasks. Overall, the workshop was highly beneficial and aligned with the institution’s objective of enhancing employability skills among students through industry-relevant training programs. The event concluded with positive feedback from participants, marking it as a meaningful academic initiative.
