Workshop on Computer Networks

The Department of Computer Applications of GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized a Workshop on Computer Networks on Thursday, 18 December 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshop was held in the BCA Lab to help students understand computer networking in a practical way.The programme started with a welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Balakrishnan P.K., Head of the Department of Computer Applications. She spoke about the importance of networking skills in today’s technology field and encouraged students to actively take part in the session.The workshop was handled by Ms. Shibla Shereen, Academic Head of Leads Networking Academy. She explained the basic concepts of computer networks in a clear and simple manner. Topics such as types of networks, networking devices, basic IP concepts, and the importance of networking were discussed. She used real-life examples, which helped students understand the topics easily.
A total of 40 students participated in the workshop with great interest. The session was interactive, and students asked questions and shared their doubts. Along with the theory session, a hands-on session was also conducted. This practical session helped students understand networking concepts better.After the session, a quiz was conducted to test the students’ understanding. Twenty-four students answered all the questions correctly. Since many students performed well, one student was selected among them. Mohammed Nafih K.P. was selected and received a prize from the organizing team.The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Husna Mehbin, S4 BCA Class Representative, who thanked the resource person, Head of the Department, faculty members, and students for their support.Overall, the workshop was very useful and informative. It helped students gain practical knowledge and encouraged them to learn more about computer networking.
