WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION
Department of Sociology and social Work had celebrated International Women's day on march 8,2021. The students of the Department displayed theme dance which inculcated the theme of the year. #choosetochallenge. The theme calls out to the world to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action for equality. The theme emphasizes that 'a challenged world is an alert world'. The principal of the institution Dr. Naveen Mohan and other faculty members of the various departments of the institution extended their support to the programme.
Basics of Sociology-orientation Programme
Department of Sociology and Social Work conducted an orientation programme for first year students of Sociology (2020 -23 batch) tilted ‘Basics of Sociology‘ on 5th of November 2020 as part of the student development programme webinar series – 12. The programme was headed by Dr. N.P Hafiz Mohammed and mentored by department HOD Dr. Mirshad Rahman. Programme started with the welcoming of our chief guest Dr. Hafiz Mohammed which was done by Ms. Marjana Parveen. Gems college vice chairman Vasudevan sir facilitated and welcomed all on behalf of management. Orientation class focused on three points; Basic of sociology Scope of sociology Sociology and daily life. After each half-hour session students were provided with 10 minutes of doubt clarification and 20 minutes of interaction time. Dr. NP Hafiz sir discussed about sociology as an academic discipline, the scope of sociology at present and in the future, and the use of sociology in day-to-day life. About 40 students participated in the programme. Throughout the programme students actively interacted and they also cleared their doubts. By 11.30 AM students told their feedback about the programme. After that Ms. Marjana Parveen, Assistant Professor and S1 Sociology tutor, with the permission of resource person and HOD concluded the programme
