Importance of soft skill in personal and professional life and job opportunities in current market scenario
The PG Department of Commerce, GEMS Arts and Science College organized career guidance webinar on the topic “Importance of soft skill in personal and professional life and job opportunities in current market scenario” on 22nd May 2021, Saturday from 10.am to 11.am. Apart from a good number of students, the programme was attended by Senior faculties Jabhar sir, Ashraf sir, HOD Sivakumar sir and all other faculty members of PG Department of Commerce. This webinar targeted prospective students of UG as well as PG. The main objective of the webinar was to familiarize participants with the emerging ideas and trends on how to develop personality in the 21st century contexts. The programme also aimed to teach participants to work with various professionals, people and groups to understand the meaning of life and work in the present context; to enhance their communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to function in professional and social settings effectively. The resource person for the session was Mrs.Suhaila Hashim, career expert, Avodha E-Learning platform. Mr. Unneen welcomed all the participants to the webinar session. He addressed the participants and described the institutional role in convening such programme. The resource person opined that Avodha is a rapidly growing internet platform with various product offerings in the e-learning sector. It has currently 16 job ready courses like Ethical hacking, Big Data and AI, Python, Android, Medical coding, Excel, Tally and GST, stock market, AutoCAD 3DsMax Rivert. She pointed out how do we learn, live & work in this century. Participants were asked to present different skills of 21st century. The participants were given opportunity to clarify their doubts during the last 15 minutes allocated for question answer session. The resource person satisfactorily responded all the queries raised by the participants. The concluding remarks and vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Niyaf, Assistant professor. The technical side of the programme was handled by Mr. Niyaf, Assistant professor. E-certificates were also mailed to the participants, who attended the programme. Overall, the webinar got good response.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM “Workshop on Preparation of Final Accounts-Online”
The PG Department of Commerce conducted a skill development program titled "Workshop on Preparation of Final Accounts-Online" on 12th January 2021. The workshop aimed to enhance participants' knowledge and understanding of final account preparation, a crucial aspect of financial reporting. The workshop was held online, with 60 students participating in the session. The resource person for the program was ABDUL JABBAR, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce, with expertise in the field. The workshop commenced at 10:00 AM and lasted for the scheduled duration. During the workshop, participants were introduced to the purpose and significance of final accounts. They were guided through the various components of final accounts, including the trading account, profit and loss account, and balance sheet. Practical techniques for preparing final accounts were shared, accompanied by real-life case studies and examples. The workshop encouraged active participation and engagement from the attendees. Participants asked questions, shared their experiences, and interacted with the resource person. The online platform facilitated seamless communication and collaboration. Key takeaways from the workshop included a comprehensive understanding of final accounts, practical skills for their preparation, analysis of case studies, and enhanced knowledge in the field of accounting and financial reporting. Overall, the workshop on Preparation of Final Accounts-Online was a successful event, contributing to the skill development and knowledge enhancement of the participants.
