FIELD VISIT TO LANDSLIDE PRONE AREA IN KANNAPAMCHOLA, CALICUT
Department of geology has conducted a field visit to landslide prone area near Kannapamchola in Calicut Kerala as an extensional activity on 27th November 2018. About 35 students were visited the landslide prone area where they conducted extensive field survey under the guidance of Abdul Rahman C V, Sajith Sadanandan and Tinu C K. The aim of the survey was to analyze the entire area and suggest some remedial measures to the residents. As a part of the survey vulnerable slopes of the area as studied and other parameters where observed. Slope stability of the entire area was analyzed and risk factors was studied. Based on the study various spots were recognized as vulnerable and remedial measures were suggested to the landslide vulnerable community.

World Yoga Day
Marking the celebration of World Yoga Day, a invigorating yoga class found its place within the college premises. Led by the esteemed Shamsudheen sir from the renowned Yoga center in Perinthalmanna, the event drew eager volunteers eager to embrace the holistic teachings of yoga. With a blend of yogasanas, mudras, and pranayama techniques, the participants embarked on a journey towards physical and mental well-being, guided by the expert hand of Shamsudheen sir.Hailing from the esteemed Yoga center of Perinthalmanna, Shamsudheen sir brought his wealth of experience to the forefront, meticulously training the volunteers in a series of yogasanas. The participants gracefully moved through poses, finding balance and rejuvenation in each stretch and movement. The college setting transformed into a sanctuary of tranquility, with the echoes of deep breaths resonating against the backdrop of academia.Mudras, intricate hand gestures imbued with deep symbolism, were a core aspect of the training. Shamsudheen sir skillfully elucidated the significance of each mudra, imparting knowledge on how they could channel energy and promote mental clarity. Amidst the surroundings of academia, these gestures facilitated a connection with the inner self, creating a serene environment for growth and self-awareness.Pranayama, the practice of controlled breathing, took center stage under Shamsudheen sir's guidance. Volunteers were encouraged to harness the power of their breath to achieve a state of calm and balance. The participants, as if in unison, inhaled and exhaled, forming a symphony of unity and shared purpose within the confines of the college space.In addition to the physical and breathing practices, Shamsudheen sir imparted awareness classes on the indispensable importance of yoga in daily life. A special session was dedicated to enlightening volunteers about how yoga could be seamlessly woven into their routines to enhance their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
