NATURE CAMP
Under the auspices of the GEMS NSS unit, a remarkable 3-day nature camp named 'Verariyaan' was meticulously organized, spanning from the 15th to the 17th of August. The camp's venue was the pristine Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Thenmala, Kollam. This event not only highlighted the unit's commitment to nature and outdoor education but also provided a unique opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the beauty of the wilderness. The journey to the Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary commenced from the college premises at 7 PM on the 15th of August, marking the beginning of an exciting and memorable adventure. The choice of this date, which coincides with India's Independence Day, adds an extra layer of significance to the camp. As the participants embarked on this journey, they carried with them the spirit of exploration, camaraderie, and a shared passion for nature. Throughout the course of the camp, the volunteers had the privilege of experiencing the sheer beauty and biodiversity of the sanctuary's surroundings. About 39 volunteers participated in the camp. Engaging in various activities such as nature walks, wildlife spotting, and interactive sessions, the participants had the chance to develop a deeper appreciation for the environment and its delicate balance. These shared experiences undoubtedly fostered a strong sense of unity among the attendees, leaving them with lasting memories that transcended the mere duration of the camp. In essence, the GEMS NSS unit's 'Verariyaan' nature camp signifies the unit's commitment to holistic education, nature awareness, and fostering a sense of togetherness among its volunteers. By providing a platform for participants to connect with nature and each other, the camp not only enriched their knowledge and perspective but also sowed the seeds of lifelong environmental consciousness and camaraderie.
