NATURE CAMP
Under the auspices of the GEMS NSS Unit, a remarkable three-day nature camp titled 'Into the Wild' was meticulously organized for enthusiastic NSS volunteers, spanning from March 10th to March 13th of 2021. This extraordinary event was set against the backdrop of the awe-inspiring Periyar Tiger Reserve in Thekkady. The camp stood as a testament to the unit's commitment to holistic learning, environmental awareness, and fostering a deep connection with nature. Embarking on an exciting journey, the participants set off from the college at the late hour of 8 PM on March 10th. The nighttime departure added an element of adventure to the entire experience. As the volunteers ventured into the wilderness, they were infused with a sense of anticipation, camaraderie, and a shared willingness to explore the natural world that awaited them. Nestled within the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the camp became a canvas for creating lasting memories. The serene surroundings, lush foliage, and the diverse wildlife of Thekkady served as the perfect backdrop for a comprehensive nature immersion. This experience went beyond classroom learning, offering the volunteers a chance to interact with the environment firsthand, thereby deepening their understanding of the importance of nature conservation. The 'Into the Wild' camp proved to be a unique blend of learning and leisure. Engaging activities, guided treks, and insightful discussions on ecological sustainability formed the core of the program These experiences not only expanded the participants' knowledge but also enriched their perspective on the delicate balance that exists between human existence and the natural world. In conclusion, the 'Into the Wild' nature camp, organized under the GEMS NSS Unit, stands as a beacon of experiential learning, nature appreciation, and community bonding. As participants delved into the heart of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, they not only gained valuable insights but also forged unforgettable memories. This initiative exemplifies the unit's dedication to providing transformative experiences that go beyond the ordinary, leaving a lasting impact on the minds and hearts of the NSS volunteers.
