FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2021 IN ASSOCIATION WITH IQAC
The faculty development programme was conducted in association with IQAC Gems,on 24th June 2021 at 3.00 pm online via google meet platform .The programme began with a welcoming note by Dr Finose A, the IQAC coordinator,GEMS College. All the dignitaries and Chief guest were welcomed along with the whole faculties of the College. The presidential address was done by Mr Vasudevan, Vice chairman GEMS arts and Science college. He discussed components and objectives of the education system and relevance of Faculty development programme during the present pandemic situation. The programme was inaugurated by Dr B G Unni, Director, Academic and Research.He emphasised and briefed about the need for faculty improvement and the importance of teaching atmosphere in the present education system. The programme was felicitated by Mr Mohammed Navas, Vice-principal, GEMS Arts and Science college. Dr . Naveen Mohan, Principal, GEMS college introduced the guest of the programme Dr. Ismail Maitheri , Faculty in English, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah,Saudi Arabia to the faculties and session followed thereafter. During the session, He discussed Various segments of life, Student-teacher Relationship, how to improve the quality of teaching, and utilization of online platforms for effective teaching to name a few.He touched all the emotional,technical and futuristic aspects of present education system in a very simple way.Interactive sessions involving self evaluation and assesement was effective in teaching and learning process especially with poems and quotes. He explained the importance of Health and fitness,intellectual and emotional and spiritual life,character,parenting responsibilities,career,financial life and social aspects of an academician. The session provided insights to many unknown aspects in quality education and mentoring abilities of teachers.
