“Mathrubhasha Dinam”

The Department of Languages, Malayalam Department, organized “Mathrubhasha Dinam” on February 21, 2025, at the Moyinkutty Vaidyar Auditorium. The event, which began at 10 a.m., was inaugurated by writer, actor, and assistant professor Dr. Hikmathulla V. In his inaugural address, Dr. Hikmathulla emphasized the importance of one’s mother tongue in preserving cultural identity and fostering intellectual growth. He highlighted how language serves as a bridge between generations and plays a crucial role in shaping individual and collective consciousness.

Ms. Seethal, the Head of the Malayalam Department, delivered the presidential address, expressing her appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members. The event was further enriched by felicitations from esteemed faculty members, including Jeevesh M, Assistant Professor in the Malayalam Department; Mr. Rihas, Assistant Professor in the English Department; and Mr. Sandeepan, Head of the Department of Management Studies. They spoke about the significance of linguistic diversity and the necessity of promoting the mother tongue in academic and cultural spaces.

Adding to the vibrancy of the occasion, students organized various cultural programs that celebrated the richness of the Malayalam language and heritage. Performances included traditional songs, poetry recitations, and skits that reflected the beauty and depth of Malayalam literature. The event successfully reinforced the importance of language in shaping identity and encouraged students to take pride in their mother tongue.
