WEBINAR ON INTRODUCTION TO MOBILEAPP DEVELOPMENT
The Department of Computer Science and BCA organized a webinar on “Introduction to Mobile App Development” in association with Ralfiz Technologies, Perinthalmanna. The session was handled by Mr. Jobin Sebastian, Managing Director of Ralfiz Technologies and also HOD of the Computer Science Department of St.Mary’s College, Puthanangadi. The presenter passed a basic idea of mobile app developing platforms; and also about most trending topics to develop an application. This session made the students very helpful to choose a project topic, which will become innovative and career oriented. The presenter described the contents through the slides, which contain brief description about new technical terms and he made the session very interactive. Seminar on Cyber Security
The "Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking Seminar" was a comprehensive event aimed at raising awareness about the critical issues of cybersecurity and ethical hacking. Held on 27/07/2023 Thursday at 1:30pm to 3:30pm in our department lab, the seminar brought together cybersecurity experts, ethical hackers, industry professionals, and students to explore the evolving landscape of cyber threats, preventive measures, and the ethical use of hacking for the greater good. Key Topics Covered: The seminar commenced with an overview of the cybersecurity landscape, highlighting the growing significance of digital security in today's interconnected world. Participants were introduced to the various types of cyber threats, including malware, phishing, ransomware, and social engineering. Ethical Hacking Fundamentals: The focus then shifted to ethical hacking, providing insights into the mindset and methodologies of ethical hackers. The distinction between ethical hacking and malicious hacking was emphasized, highlighting the need for responsible and lawful practices. Common Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities: Participants gained an understanding of common vulnerabilities found in software, networks, and systems. The session included practical examples and demonstrations, shedding light on the potential risks faced by individuals and organizations. Defensive Strategies: Cybersecurity experts shared valuable insights on building robust defense mechanisms. Topics covered included firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure coding practices.
